Da vinci Code"The Da Vinci Code" by Dan Brown became a bestselling fiction and people all over the world started to read it in thousands and thousands. Going by the human nature of following others, I also obtained my copy and started to read the Da Vinci Code.
It was a fascinating journey. While reading, many ideas flew over my head, after completing the novel, I thought I must record those ideas before they evaporate. This article is an attempt in this regard.

Story is a wonderful tool that God gifted human beings so they may communicate, get lessons and be impressed. Quran reveals lots of stories which are all true. Stories are amazing incidences happened to others which are supposed to carry lessons. The benefit of stories is that they relate true real life experiences of others that might repeat to us. For example, the story of Moses and Pharaoh shows how a noble person like Moses got the help of Allah and saved the children of Israel from the oppression of the tyrant Pharaoh. In every part of the story is excitement and lessons. At certain stages of the story, a situation brings Moses to a dead end and no hope seems in the horizon, and then all in a sudden, victory comes by an unexpected way.

The Da Vinci Code was intelligently designed in a way that is full of excitement and twists. The story was made out of real places and backgrounds which added lots of reality to this fiction. The author examined the trend of the current public religious awakening and made his story surrounding this theme to ensure better circulation.

Dan Brown showed clearly that Jesus was human being which we Muslims believe. Then the author imagined Jesus having wife and daughter and a sacred blood that carries Jesus' blood generation over generation. This blood was carried by sacred womb and the author clearly added lot's of emphasis on the sacred feminine. The author described how the true Christianity was distorted by the Roman paganism which introduced lots of myth surrounding the nature of Christ and rituals of Worship and the nature of God. The author also indicated indirectly how Catholics deliberately oppressed various sects and denominations over the Christian history for non-compatible beliefs to the nicean creed.

I believe Dan Brown wanted to convey his thoughts about religion, and to do so, he designed a novel and coated it with intelligent detective story. I must praise his intelligence in his ability to ensure maximum numbers of readers by including lots of diverse reader categories. He was able to gather topics such as: religion, history, arts, detective story, cryptology, a little bit of romance, and some comedy as well.

Of course, the Catholic Church (and religious Christians) who believe in trinity did not like ‘The Vinci Code’ as it attacks on basic creeds of the trinity doctrine. Dan was successful to convey a partial Islamic version of the nature of Jesus to millions or readers. I said ‘partial’ because Islam always stands in the middle between two unguided extremes. So, when Dan wanted to attack one extreme he (as was the case with many other sects) went into another extreme. The sacred feminine is an extreme ideology that is resulted from the sacred masculine advocated by Church. Islam stands in between. This article is not intended to discuss this issue, but I promise to talk about it later.

I think discussing issues like these encapsulated within an interesting novel is a very good idea to sell the ideology to millions. Quran is an excellent book that shows this art. For example, reading the chapter on the story of the prophet Joseph gives the reader excitement, interest and full of lessons.
