Page 4 of 16 MILESTONE 3: PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN MEDICINE It is a common complain of parents that their teenagers are not listening to them. Those parents did not spend enough time for their kids in their early childhood. They did a little to cultivate into them the love and fear of Allah at the early childhood. They did not follow the Prophetic instruction to enjoin praying from the early stage. It is totally stupid to expect the teenager to perform prayer over night if it were not practiced over years from the early childhood. One should not expect super quality fruit from a tree which was neglected and was not a subject of continuous nursing and maintaining. Our Prophet advised the parents to separate between the kids when sleeping in their beds. This is a pure preventive measure that will close any door which Satan might use to promote sex among the siblings. Also, Quran teaches us to instruct the kids to the etiquette of entering the bedroom of the parents after seeking permission and giving defined hours during the day. (58) O ye who believe! let those whom your right hands possess, and the (children) among you who have not come of age ask your permission (before they come to your presence), on three occasions: before morning prayer; the while ye doff your clothes for the noonday heat; and after the late-night prayer: these are your three times of undress: outside those times it is not wrong for you or for them to move about attending to each other: Thus does Allah make clear the Signs to you: for Allah is full of knowledge and wisdom. [Surah an-Noor (24): 58] |
