MILESTONE 12: NOT ALL SMALL MATTERS ARE SMALL

It is important to grow up the children with a clear understanding of virtue and vice. To magnify in their heart the respect of Allah. Many sins we commit seems very trifle to us, but they are in the sight of Allah grave. According to Hadith, a person might utter a single word -paying little attention- which might cause him to descend in hell fire for 70 years.

Allah says:

When you received it with your tongues and spoke with your mouths what you had no knowledge of, and you deemed it an easy matter while with Allah it was grievous.  [Surah Annoor (24): 15]

When a child grows with the habit of looking lightly at sins, then he will belittle the sins throughout his life. However, when a child is taught from early age, the devastating effects of sins, and is taught how to respect Allah, then He will be a righteous believer later on. This training is impossible if the parents themselves are looking into sins lightly, and indulged into such sins day and night. This is why, teaching by example is the best method.

Indeed, We have sent down for you (O mankind) a Book, (the Qur'ân) in which there is your reminder (and Honor). Will you not then understand? [Quran al-Anbiay (21):10]
