“Tayyebat” is the plural of “Tayyeb” meaning Good Things. When Quran mentions the word “Tayyebat” it’s meaning depends on the context. If the word “Tayyebat” came in the context of mentioning the bounties and blessings of Allah, then Good Things will refer to the enjoyable and desirable blessings of Allah.
Example:It is Allah who made for you the earth a place of settlement and the sky a structure [i.e., ceiling] and formed you and perfected your forms and provided you with good things. That is Allah, your Lord; then blessed is Allah, Lord of the worlds. [Ghafer 40:64] Another Example:He sheltered you, supported you with His victory, and provided you with good things – that you might be grateful. [ Al-Anfal 8: 26] If, however, “Tayyebat” is mentioned in the context of permissible and forbiddance (i.e., Halal and Haram), then Good things refer to the Halal (Lawful) things which Allah gave us. ExampleThey ask you, [O Muhammad], what has been made lawful for them. Say, “Lawful for you are [all] good things..” [ Al-Maedah 5: 4] Another Example:Say, “Who has forbidden the adornment of [i.e., from] Allah which He has produced for His servants and the good [lawful] things” [ Al-Aaraf 7: 32] |
