If the context of a verse talks about a particular subject, and Allah wants to give verdict on this particular subject and broader subject as well, then Quran gives the generalized verdict.
Let us see some examples..Example (151)Verily, those who disbelieve in Allâh and His Messengers and wish to make distinction between Allâh and His Messengers (by believing in Allâh and disbelieving in His Messengers) saying, "We believe in some but reject others," and wish to adopt a way in between. They are really the true disbelievers. And We have prepared for the disbelievers a humiliating torment. [4:150-151]So, in this verse, the humiliating torment covers this particular group of disbelievers (who make distinction between Allah and His Messenger) and the general category of disbelievers. (64)Say (O Muhammad (peace be upon him)) "Who rescues you from the darkness of the land and the sea (dangers like storms), (when) you call upon Him in humility and in secret (saying): If He (Allâh) only saves us from this (danger), we shall truly be grateful." Say (O Muhammad (peace be upon him)) "Allâh rescues you from this and from all (other) distresses, and yet you worship others besides Allâh." [6:63-64]So, Allah rescues those who sincerely supplicates to Allah in the middle of the sea, and also in any other situations. The condition is to supplicate sincerely to Allah. (146)Except those who repent (from hypocrisy), do righteous good deeds, hold fast to Allâh, and purify their religion for Allâh (by worshipping none but Allâh, and do good for Allâh's sake only, not to show-off), then they will be with the believers. And Allâh will grant the believers a great reward.[4:146]So, the great reward is for this special category of believers who repent, do righteous and hold fast to Allah, and purify their religion, but the reward covers them in the first place, and covers much greater community of the believers.
