THE POWER OF ALLAH:

We -the arrogant human beings- some times claim our power and control over the universe. We have reached the moon, built large buildings, explored the universe, went deep in the sea, etc. Advancement in science and technology made us feel like kings on earth. Allah created this Tsunami to remind human beings of their inherent weakness. Quran -in almost every page- illustrates the power and might of Allah. Allah created this whole universe and HE controls it. To him this whole universe is like a small sand grain in a vast sandy beach. Also, pondering on the power of HIS angels shows the power of Allah who is the Lord of those angels. The angel Gabriel (Jibreel) by the tip of his wing, rose the cities of Sodom to the heights of the skies, and turned them upside down.

IS IT NATURAL?:
The secular world tends to hide all elements of divinity in those disasters and attribute it to the mother nature. So -to them- nature is a new God who does these calamities. To the modern scientific world, anything that can not be explained scientifically, must be rejected. And anything that can be explained scientifically, then that is not the act of GOD. This classification caused human beings a lot of sufferings. This caused us not to relate causes with effects. So, Earthquakes are just a result of plate tectonics. This partial view made man confused. It is true that plate tectonics just explains the way Allah spells HIS wrath on us, but it does not tell the story of why Allah spelled HIS wrath on us? The science Elders does not believe in Allah, so they just explain the mechanics of the disaster without -even bothering- to investigate the actual causes of such disasters.

THE ACTUAL CAUSES:
The whole universe is under the control of Allah. No motion -even the black ant's small steps in a dark night- happens without the knowledge of Allah. Every thing is under HIS control. Allah's signs are widespread in this universe. Night, day, sun, moon, seas, rivers, trees, animals, etc. all of them are universal signs that shows the excellence and greatness of Allah. However, since these signs are at our disposal on daily basis, we tend to forget that these are Allah's sign and overlook Allah's power reflected in them. When things get out of their normal courses, then man starts to think of Allah.

For example, a normal childbirth is a sign by itself. It has all the miracles embedded in this 9 month journey. However, we seldom ponder on them. When a child is produced without the normal course of Male-female relation, then everyone wonders and starts to glorify Allah. Jesu's Birth, Isaac's birth, Yahya's birth are examples. Similarly, the vast ocean by itself is a sign of Allah's greatness, but people tends to forget. Great Tsunamis come to remind human beings of the greatness and power of Allah. This is one side of the wisdom. Here comes the most important one:

THIS IS BECAUSE OF OUR SINS:
Chapters of history reveal lots of disasters befalling on communities. Holy scriptures relate stories of Noah, Aad, Thamoud, Moses, Madyan, etc. Quran gives details on many of them. The trend is simple. These people commit grave sins. A messenger is sent down who warns them. Majority rejects the message. A 'Natural' or rather un-Natural disaster roots them off and this community becomes part of history!

This trend of Allah is historical, and Allah's sunan (trends) does not change. Whenever a community indulges heavily in sinful actions and they know that they are sinning, then Allah's wrath befalls on them. It is not enough to explain disasters in terms of plate tectonics and weather terminologies, more important is to investigate why that particular plate decided to slide vertically on that particular morning. Who instructed it to do so? It is Allah. So, why Allah made such a wrath on those countries? People need to think on the sinful actions they were making. When they realize their negligence towards Allah's commands and rectify themselves and repent, then they will find the doors of Allah wide open, and HIS mercy embraces every repented. They will afterwards see nothing but peace and development. Read the story of the Prophet Jonah (Yunus) and his people.

IS IT FAIR?
So what were the faults and sins of those infants, children and innocents? what were their faults? Those who are not atheists and believe in a God behind these catastrophe, yet they do not understand the wisdom (Hikmah) of Allah, they might find it difficult to comprehend why those innocents were killed.

When, in a community, the corruptions and sins become so widespread, and the community observes those sinful actions being practiced openly, yet they do not protest and consider it normal, then according to the sunnah (Trend) of Allah, HIS wrath befalls on the whole community without distinction in the worldly punishment. However, the real punishment in the hearafter will differ and Allah will save those innocents and righteous people from the torment. This is why, when an individual or a community observes such catastrophe, they immediately need to check their actions. If they were good, righteous, avoiding Shirk (associating deities besides Allah), then they should consider this disaster as a trial from Allah to expiate some of their past sins and elevate their rank in Paradise. On the contrary, if they are heavily indulged in Shirk, Bidah (innovations in religious matters), sins, sexual violations, monetary violations, etc, then it is a minor torment to them, before the major one awaiting them in the hear after.

This boils down to the fact that Allah never does injustice to his creatures. Rather, we wrong ourselves. If Allah punished us based on our every sinful actions, then no human beings would have been moving on earth, but by the mercy of Allah -which exceeds HIS wrath- HE only punishes us for some of our actions and not all.

WHEN IS THE DOOMS DAY:
Allah has created this earth - and the whole universe- so the inhabitants would worship HIM in the way HE wants. All the provisions on this earth are provided to facilitate the true worshippers worship. Those unbelievers are getting a portion -and a good portion- of this provision as a byproduct. Because, the earth and all its belongings does not weigh a mosquito's wing in the scale of Allah, so HE does not care if those unbelievers get those provisions, as long as there are some real worshippers (which are Muslims after the Prophet Muhammad's time). However, if it happens that on this globe -which was created to worship Allah- there exists no single worshipper, then the whole purpose of creating this universe is defeated. THAT IS THE DOOMS DAY. These Tsunamies, earthquakes, etc are minor signs for the dooms day. These incidents remind us to worship Allah and thus maintain the stability of this earth. This is the green peace. Ozone depletion, or global warming, outer space aliens, etc will not destroy the earth, what will destroy the earth is the absence of true worshippers of Allah. If you are very much concerned about 'GREEN PEACE' then promote Islam in your community.

SO THAT WAS 'BOXING DAY':
If you wondered what kind of sins those remote Asian islanders were doing then consider the Boxing Day morning. The night previous, many of those Europeans had a warm red night escaping from the snow in their homelands, and flying to remote Asian islands, in that night -which they have well planned and dreamt about months ago- they drank, had fun with boy/girl friends and properly exercised the world's most famous 'Pagan' festival: The Christmas. However, this time they could not realize that Santa Clara had hidden this heavy-weight gift for them on the Boxing morning. Who knows, maybe 150K people died just because of those few thousands 'white' culprits!!

This is a message to those rich white un-gentlemen: You have well satisfied your animal lusts, but kept your spiritual needs in starvation. It is time for you to convert to HUMAN after being ANIMALS. When you are well humanized, then we have lots of re-habilitation program for your soul.
